FAQ’S
Basketball combine measurements evaluate prospects through, physical, and athletic, and skill-based stations, focusing on length, speed, and verticality. Key metrics include height (with/without shoes), weight, wingspan, hand size, vertical jumps, 3/4-court sprint, and lane agility. These tests are designed to project a player’s defensive potential, physical maturity, and speed, with specialized equipment used to ensure accuracy in metrics.
Physical Measurements & Stations
Height: Measured both with and without shoes to evaluate true height.
Wingspan: Measured from fingertip to fingertip to determine length.
Standing Reach: Determines how high a player can reach, crucial for rebounding and rim protection.
Weight: Current body weight.
Hand Length/Width: Measured to gauge ball handling and control.
Athletic Testing & Stations
Standing Vertical Jump: A measure of explosive power without a running start, often using force plates to measure jump performance.
Maximum Vertical Jump: A running vertical jump, often measured using the Top Hopper TH500 system to determine maximum height.
3/4-Court Sprint: Evaluates speed over a 75-foot distance.
Lane Agility Drill: Measures lateral quickness and foot speed.
Modified Event Timer/Shuttle Run: Tests agility and change-of-direction speed, often involving quick lateral movements between cones.
Bench Press: Measures upper body strength by counting repetitions of a 185-pound bar.
Registration will begin at 8am for all athletes. Please bring black shorts to play in. Games are scheduled to last until 5PM and we plan to have a Dunk Contest OR Shooting contest at the end of event while camp reports are begin prepared. We will give you a Jersey to wear for the day. At the end of the day, we will give you a T-Shirt and will require you to return the Jersey. If Jersey is not returned, we will NOT send your information out to college coaches or give you your evaluation until it is returned via overnight mail.
We plan to live stream all games free of charge online at studentathletecamps.com/livestream.html (Sometime's the 5G network is weak in certain areas, however, we will still post and send out much better quality HD game tapes following the event so you or any college can watch your games on-demand).
Feel free to notify family members that can't make it and college coaches that are recruiting you of the free live stream feature. We will also notify all D1 schools, but it never hurts for college coaches to hear the same information from different sources, as they tend to be very forgetful. We will post rosters and schedule on the above LiveStream link as well once games start at 10am.
Before you come, we want to stress coming with a mindset of team play, moving without the ball, defending and sharing the ball. When the colleges and the scouts see you on film or in person and see ball hogging they will immediately be turned off. Being UNSELFISH is key and knowing when to use your opportunities.
